This mug is wheel thrown from a beautiful, white stoneware.
Once the mug dried, the design was printed in underglaze using a linoleum block I carved and the mug was bisque fired in the kiln. The image is permanent and cannot wash off. It is not a decal or screen print.
A deep, satiny glaze was poured inside and the outside was painted with a thin layer of clear glaze. The mug returned to the kiln a second time for a cone 6 (about 2232F) firing during which the silica in the clay and glaze vitrified and turned to a permanent, durable gloss.
This mug can be made to order with another image on the front or a different glaze inside. If you would like to customize, please leave a note at checkout and allow 2 to 3 weeks for shipping.
I handmade all my mugs and handles one at a time so no two are exactly the same and yours may vary slightly from either of the examples pictured here. If you have a preference for mug or handle size and shape, please convo me
